Frequently asked questions
Short, straight answers about how kontrol works, where its prices come from and how shops list with it.
General
What is kontrol?
A device catalogue you can search by specification, and a marketplace where local shops list what they have in stock. The catalogue holds 25,820 devices from 239 brands — phones, tablets, smartwatches and laptops.
Where do the specifications come from?
They are compiled from public sources, including manufacturers’ own specification pages, and corrected by hand when they turn out to be wrong. Each device page shows the display, processor, memory, cameras, battery, size and connectivity in one table. If you spot a wrong value, write to us through the contact page and it will be fixed.
Where do the prices come from?
Only from shops. Every price on the site is a live listing that a shop posted and our team approved — never a figure taken from somewhere else. A device nobody is selling shows no price at all rather than an estimate.
Is kontrol free to use?
Yes. Browsing the catalogue, comparing devices, asking the adviser and opening an account cost nothing. Only shops pay, and only to publish listings.
Which languages and currencies does it support?
The whole site is translated into 13 languages: English, Türkçe, Русский, Қазақша, Кыргызча, Français, Deutsch, Español, Italiano, Português, 日本語, 한국어, and 中文. Prices are shown in the currency that matches the language you read in, converted at exchange rates published once a day, so a converted figure is approximate.
Where are the shops?
Shops can tie a listing to a city in these countries: Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Türkiye, and Russia. That is how you see who sells a device in your own city. A listing outside those countries simply has no city.
Choosing and buying a device
How do I compare devices?
Add devices to the comparison from the catalogue or a device page. Up to 4 are shown side by side, with the best value in each row highlighted, and the comparison has its own link you can send to someone.
How do I decide which phone to buy?
Tell the adviser what you want in your own words — a budget, a good camera, a long-lasting battery — and it recommends phones from the real catalogue, never invented ones. The best lists (battery, camera, RAM, screen), the brand pages and the popular comparisons are other good starting points.
Can I buy through kontrol?
No. kontrol takes no payments and is not a party to the sale. You contact the shop directly — by phone, WhatsApp, Telegram, its website or a message on the site — and buy from it. Shops are responsible for the accuracy of their listings.
Can I trust the shops and listings?
Every shop is approved by our team before it can list, and every listing is reviewed one by one before anyone can see it. Link shorteners are refused and phone numbers are checked against their country. To review a shop you need a verified email, an account at least three days old and a conversation with the shop in which both sides wrote. If something looks wrong, tell us through the contact page.
Can I be told when a price drops or a device goes on sale?
Yes, once you are signed in. On a device page, set a target price: when a shop’s price reaches it, you get a notification on the site and an email, once. For a device nobody sells yet, turn on the on-sale alert — for your city only, if you like — and you are told when the first listing is approved.
For shops
How do I add my shop?
Open a free account and fill in the application form in the vendor portal. Our team reviews the application; once it is approved you can publish listings.
How much does a listing cost?
Listings are paid for with credits, and the price depends on how long the listing runs: 7 days — 10 credits, 14 days — 18 credits, 30 days — 35 credits, 60 days — 65 credits, and 90 days — 90 credits. Credits are taken when you submit and refunded if the listing is rejected. The run only starts once it is approved, so review time costs you no days.
How do I buy credits?
On the Credits page of the vendor portal, choose a pack and make a bank transfer quoting the reference code you are given. When the transfer arrives, our team confirms it and the credits appear in your balance.
Account and contact
How long are messages kept?
Messages are deleted automatically after 48 hours. The clean-up runs once a day, so a message can stay visible for up to a day longer.
I found a mistake. How do I report it?
Write to us through the form on the contact page — a wrong specification, a suspicious listing or anything else. kontrol is operated by Aetech Software LLC, and what is wrong gets fixed.
